Some people spend their entire lives waiting for things to happen for them, but they instead have things happen to them, with no chance to decide ahead of time how they want things to go. Then they shift to accommodate the new paradigm, the way things have turned out. They become adept at adjusting, not creating.
I was one of those people, going through life blindly stumbling into one thing after another, then doing my best to fit my new reality into the form I had been forced into. Until she came, and she showed me that life is worth more when I lead, and not when I follow. That it’s better to create a new dynamic than to accept one given to me.
And I am a much better person for it.
