Warm Blood

5027-v1Blood runs warm
Through sinew and bone
On its slow way
To finding a home
Diversionary paths
Twisting in their strain
Reaching for saving grace
In obscurity
It pools, congealing
When it touches down
Settling cold as ice
In stunning veins
Like sketches
Those stark blue lines
The sweet relief
Of a destination
Long since determined
By fate’s array
And human nature
Long since decayed
Awaiting a rebirth
For the trickling
Of warm blood.
