Apparition

apparitionShe dreams of me
A negligence, really
Forgotten as I am
In her waking hours
This ghostly skin
Stretched over bones
That she used to know
Intimate as such
Entwined in each other
Like snaking vines
Severed by time
The loss of innocence
Resonating like wind
In the slamming door
And the turning
Leaves me petrified
That I will disappear
Even from myself
Yet her subconscious
It sticks me in place
Where I’m still alive
Relevant as such
Amidst the rubbish
Of a scattered brain
That I used to know
When she knew me
Apart from dreams
But I call to her
And there is no sound
Not even an echo
Of who I used to be.
